Emigration out of Chile was a breeze. We actually thought we missed something and got out to double check. Getting into Argentina, on the other hand, wow — what inefficiencies. We spent about an hour going through immigration: getting our passports stamped, car searched at customs then driving 30 min down the road to the final checkpoint…. Two stamps? Turned out the piece of paper they handed us upon entering the border zone, needed to have four stamps. We u-turned around and back up to the border. The first guard was confused and had no idea what we needed when we said we were missing stamps. We were directed to another guard that got us one stamp but then we were informed we needed to go back to the passport stamp guy for a different stamp. A How did the officers not know to stamp the form? B Why was this so complicated? The guard proceeded to take our piece of paper with the stamps and throw it into the garbage can. Familia Zuccardi had a high level of professionalism, making sure the lawns were manicured and we were greeted with champagne. This smaller one, was more casual and we were welcomed inside their kitchen for the tasting. If anyone reading this goes to Mendoza, I highly recommend experiencing both: the family oriented feel and the most extravagant commercial offerings. The drive back to Santiago was even more picturesque as we had the snow topped mountains in front of us now. As we came out of the car tunnel, we could see semi-trucks lined up for over a kilometer. Passenger vehicles were lined up for over half a kilometer.
